After trimming your pet’s claws, gently file any sharp or jagged edges using smooth, controlled strokes. Work gradually and remove only small amounts at a time. Keep your pet’s paw steady and avoid filing too close to the quick, which contains blood vessels and nerves. Introduce the nail file gradually if your pet is new to claw care, and offer plenty of reassurance throughout the session.
For dogs that are new to grooming, introduce the brush slowly. Begin grooming sessions when your dog is relaxed and, where possible, after exercise. Keep sessions brief initially and gradually increase their length as your dog becomes comfortable with grooming. Offer plenty of reassurance throughout the session and pause or end grooming if your dog becomes agitated or shows signs of stress.
